This April wedding at Loft Lucia took place during the height of the pandemic, resulting in a beautifully intimate and scaled-back celebration that felt both personal and meaningful. With limited guest attendance and thoughtful adjustments to the day, the couple embraced the circumstances and focused on what mattered most — their commitment to one another.
Coverage began at the couple’s Chicago apartment with a short and relaxed getting ready session with the groom before the team traveled to the bride’s preparation location at the LondonHouse Chicago Hotel (85 E Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601). Once both preparations were captured, the couple shared their First Look at Loft Lucia, followed by photoshoot, ceremony and reception.
Due to low temperatures and unpredictable weather, the decision was made to remain entirely within Loft Lucia for the remainder of the day. This allowed the solo photographer to fully explore the venue’s potential, using its industrial textures, warm brick tones, and natural light to create a series of artistic and emotional images without needing to travel between locations.
The reduced scale of the event, influenced by pandemic restrictions, created an atmosphere that felt especially intimate and cozy. With a carefully planned 12-hour coverage, the photographer was able to document both bride and groom getting ready, as well as every meaningful moment that followed.
While wedding days often feel fast-paced, this approach of minimizing travel helped the couple remain present and fully experience each part of their celebration.
