Denise and CJ’s story with us began with an amazing winter engagement photo-shoot, and it continued with their beautiful wedding at Riverside Receptions in Geneva, Illinois, on November 25, 2023. From the very beginning, we knew their wedding day would be something special. Riverside Receptions is such a cozy and warm setting during the winter months, making it one of those venues that feels especially inviting when the temperatures drop outside.

From a photographer’s perspective, winter at Riverside Receptions offers so many beautiful details to work with. The warm brown brick of the venue is always a wonderful element in image composition, creating texture, depth, and a timeless backdrop for portraits.

During the holiday season, the winter ornaments and seasonal decorations add color and character to the surroundings, making the entire setting feel almost fairytale-like.

There is something truly magical about this little corner of Geneva during winter. With the warm lights, seasonal details, brick architecture, and cozy atmosphere, it is easy to imagine that this might be exactly where Santa would make a stop for a handful of delicious cookies before continuing on his way. It has that kind of charm.

As the evening arrived, the lights hanging throughout the small piazzetta became another beautiful element for our photography.

They helped bring the space to life and gave us the opportunity to create dramatic and romantic night photographs, capturing Denise and CJ against the warm glow of the venue and the winter evening.

Their November 25, 2023 wedding at Riverside Receptions was a beautiful continuation of the connection we had already built with them during their engagement photo-shoot.
